Finding the fun in Paris with a website and digital booking app
ParisPrep aims to make planning a trip to Paris an enjoyable process by providing users with time-tested favorites and offering access to selections and confirmations within the app live while on the trip.
Challenge
While various travel websites and Paris resources offer ways of finding entertainment, very few feature experiences focused specifically on the younger set and what would be most interesting to them. The goal of this project was to uncover what features would help users (parents) plan and navigate their own joie de vivre while planning and enjoying their trip to Paris.

Process
User research as the starting place
Who were the users? What tools would best serve them during the travel planning phase, and what information would they need during the trip? These questions drove the starting place for this project.
Understanding traveler preferences
Using the research data from user surveys and interviews, I developed one primary user persona and storyboard to help generate a user-centered model for this work. These served as tangible references throughout the design process. A task analysis and card sorting informed several possible user flows. The user research informed every decision I made throughout the design of Paris Prep.
Creating a custom itinerary planner
Based on the insights gathered from user interviews, I focused on developing a customized itinerary planner. This feature would need to allow users to create personalized travel plans, compare different options, and adjust their itineraries according to their preferences.
Ensuring seamless navigation
A major focus was on ensuring seamless navigation throughout the website. I designed intuitive navigation paths based on user research and incorporated advanced search filters, making it easy for users to find relevant information and book their trips without any hassle. Greatest areas of interest for users included these three main categories:
Art + Museums
Cooking + French Culture
Animals + Adventure
The solution I designed was a result of the research data I collected in the first phase. It was because of the user surveys, in-depth user interviews, and development of a primary user persona and storyboard mapping the user journey that I was able to design a user-centered product that enhanced the capabilities and features that users would need and want. The task analysis and card sorting process clarified where transitions would occur and how the site would support users through every step of the trip-building process. The Account page was designed to hold all trip activities, selections, bookings, cafe and restaurant reservations, media requirements for museum tours, and more.
The final product design was a result of user research and iterative user evaluations. The solution produced was a user-centered, easy-to-use, engaging digital product for travelers booking a trip to Paris with kids.
